The Benzinelektrische Räderfräse - petrol-electrical wheeled-snow blower - BEP was procured in larger quantities. It was propelled by two Ford V8 engines which had effect on the blower-drum and an electrical generator. Because of the electrical drive of the running gear, the speed of the vehicle could be regulated more easily during the clearing process. These vehicles were developed for the clearing of roads and motorways. Later, they were also used in the rearward areas of the east front.
