Opel Blitz 3,6-6700A 3 ton lorry

The all wheel driven variant of the Opel Blitz 3 tons lorry was manufactured beginning in July 1940. The lower edge of the side panel of the engine bonnet was straight due to the higher construction.

It was identifiable by the massive wheel hubs of the front wheels, the higher construction and the large differential gear of the front axle.

During cold weather periods, the radiator grille was covered by special covers. The unit sign on this Opel Blitz 3,6-6700A could be that of 223. Infanterie Division.

Opel Blitz 3,6-6700A’s were often used with the standard box body as radio vehicle. Note the camouflage finish on this vehicle.

The initial variant of the standard box body - which is identifiable by the attachment with skylights - was introduced in 1940. For medical vehicles, this variant was made until 1944.
