Basically, the m. gl. Lkw. (o) as Kfz. 72 had a closed cuperstructure. A whole range of variants for the observational artillery and other branches was introduced in the early 1930s. For the most part these differed only by their interior.

All variants mentioned above were later replaced by further developments based on the same chassis [Ex.: Bildkraftwagen (Kfz. 354)] or based on the chassis of the l. gl. Lkw. (o) (various Kfz. 62). The Befehlskraftwagen (Kfz. 72) was no more procured, later. (Image from D 600)
