The mittlerer geländegängiger Personenkraftwagen mit Zugvorrichtung - medium cross-country passenger car with towing device - (Kfz. 12), abbreviated m. gl. Pkw. mit Zgv. (Kfz. 12), corresponded widely to the m. gl. Pkw. (Kfz. 11). Chassis from Adler (12 N-RW, 12 N-3G, 3 Gd), Mercedes-Benz (Stuttgart 260, 290, 320 WK, 340 WK), Horch (830 R, 830 BL), Phänomen (Granit 25), Stoewer (M 12 RW) and Wanderer (W 11 10/50 PS, W 11 12/60 PS, W 23 S) were used. Beginning in 1941, Skoda (Superb 3000) delivered chassis, too.

The m. gl. Pkw. mit Zgv. (Kfz. 12) had a tow coupling on the rear of the vehicle. For this reason, the spare wheels were mounted on the sides of the car body. With minimal additional expenses, the Kfz. 12 could be used much more versatile than the Kfz. 11. For this reason, production of the Kfz. 11 was stopped.
